Chinese Seitan with Hoisin

  • 1 Basic Seitan Recipe cut into 1-inch pieces
  • 3 tbsp Hoisin Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Sesame oil
  • 1 tbsp Soy Sauce
  • 1 tbsp Rice Vinegar
  • 1 tbsp Maple Syrup
  • 3/4 cup Vegetable Stock
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp fresh Ginger, minced
  • 1 tbsp Cornflour
  • 1 tbsp Olive Oil
  • 3 to 4 Spring Onions, chopped
  • 1 Red or Yellow Pepper, sliced
  • 1 Head of Broccoli, chopped

Chinese Seitan with Hoisin Directions

In a small saucepan, combine the hoisin, sesame oil, soy sauce, rice wine vinegar, maple syrup, vegetable stock and cornflour. Heat over a medium heat and stir constantly until thickened.

Meanwhile, heat a large frying pan or wok. Add the olive oil and seitan pieces and stir fry for 8-10 minutes, until the pieces have expanded a little and are coloured and cooked.

Add the vegetables and stir for a further 4-5 minutes, until softened a little. Stir in the sauce from the saucepan and serve immediately.
